Truth is: nothing will change unless you do something about it.
It is such a simple thought that we overcomplicate time and time again…as if everything that makes part of our life, it’s not in our control. WRONG. Everything that happens to us and how we feel about it, it’s in our control.
The blaming and self-loathing needs to stop and you need to start taking the step towards what you want. As nothing falls magically from the sky: you need to do the hard work.
As John Ruskin said ” What we think or what we know or what we believe is, in the end, of little consequence. The only consequence is what we do”.
“The universe rewards action” “When you take action, you trigger all kinds of things that will inevitably carry you to success” “To be successful, you have to do what successful people do, and successful people are highly action-oriented”.
I am sure that you would agree with me that someone that spends hours on end on a sofa eating crisps and feeling sorry for himself, is further away from getting to where he wants to be than someone that gets up, does some physical activity, gets in front of the computer and starts researching and studying and connecting with others. It makes sense…we know it does…yet when we are that person on that sofa, we cannot see it as clearly. We are full of self-doubt, we blame others or situations, we are tired and low on energy, we cannot see past our current situation and everything seems hard and impossible. The only way to get out of this? Do something about it. And it all starts in your head and your thoughts…the rest will follow.
One of the universal truth in life is “Nothing happens until you take action. How you do anything is how you do everything”. So stop holding yourself and back and get yourself out of that sofa.
Of course you might argue back and say that you need a plan, that you need to organize yourself and your mind and your thoughts before taking any action. “Planning has its place, but it must be kept in perspective. SOME PEOPLE SPEND THEIR WHOLE LIVES WAITING FOR THE PERFECT TIME TO DO SOMETHING. There is rarely a perfect time to do anything. WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS TO JUST GET STARTED”. So stop waiting.
I couldn’t agree more. I have read countless different books about different topics and they all said the same: just do something. You can perfect it later. If you keep waiting for the right moment, you will never do anything. Prime example is this blog…I could have waited more to refine it, add to it, ensure all Myrah stories are typed up before publishing the site. But I would have given up so much more: the thrill of having given life to something I really wanted to do. And the feeling of satisfaction that comes with it, and that now drives me to do more.
“There are 3 keys to success: 1. Being at the right place at the right time 2. Knowing you are there 3. Taking action”
